The Winter Olympics might be in full swing on the other side of the planet, but on Wednesday Cirque du Soleil brings a little bit of Eastern Europe to Frisco. We’re not talking about unfinished hotels and captured orca whales, or anything else that might jump to your mind at that comparison. In fact, forget the Russia thing entirely and just think about the circus. In Varekai, Cirque du Soleil ventures into a magical forest for an acrobatic extravaganza inspired by the nomadic culture of the Roma. Varekai comprises the awe-inspiring circus acts you’ve come to expect from the nearly ubiquitous Cirque du Soliel, but this time it’s moved out of the big top and into Dr Pepper Arena, 2601 Avenue of the Stars, Frisco. Performances take place February 19-23. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.com starting at $52.
Feb. 19-23, 4 & 7:30 p.m.; Sun., Feb. 23, 1:30 & 5 p.m., 2014
