What’s it like to be a Pulitzer Prize-winning composer whose works have been performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra, Tokyo String Quartet and The President’s Marine Band? You’d have to ask Jennifer Higdon about that, and you may just get your chance at Composing Conversations. As one of only a handful of women who have achieved such success in the field, Higdon offers a unique perspective on the world of opera, contemporary classical music and composition. Moderated by Art&Seek’s Jerome Weeks, Dallas Opera general director and CEO Keith Cerny will join Higdon in a discussion about her many achievements as well as her process when it comes to composing new works in the modern era, such as her upcoming opera based on Charles Frazier’s novel Cold Mountain. Take part in the conversation at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Hamon Hall of the Winspear Opera House, 2403 Flora St. Admission is free with RSVP. Call 214-443-1043 or visit dallasopera.org.
