No stranger to celebrity, his own or that of Hollywood actresses, Mario Testino steps away from the glamour of supermodels and royalty to photograph something a little bit more personal in his new exhibition at the Dallas Contemporary. Presented in the United States for the first time in Dallas, Alta Moda, drapes the walls in the West Dallas space like a magazine spread based on his home country of Peru. This colorful exploration of traditional costume combines couture with Cusco to stunning effect. See it at the Dallas Contemporary (161 Glass St.) through December 21. The gallery is free and open to the public Tuesday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday 12-5 p.m. More information at dallascontemporary.org.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Sept. 23. Continues through Dec. 21, 2014
