Observing Black History Month is great and all, but what about really celebrating it? The Dallas Black Dance Theatre has done just that for the past month through its Cultural Awareness Series, culminating this weekend with two strong, energetic shows that span the contemporary and the classic. Soloist John Archie Sanders performs A Boundless Journey, the company offers Ray Mercer’s Pulse as well as Hope Boykin’s in-ter-pret and New York choreographer Christopher Huggins premieres his own Jazz Course 101: Dallas Black University. And there’s more. More to celebrate black history, culture, spirit and, yes, dance. Join the festivities 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Majestic Theatre, 1925 Elm St. Tickets are $10. Call 214-871-2390 or visit ticketmaster.com.

Fri., Feb. 27, 7:30 p.m.; Sat., Feb. 28, 7:30 p.m., 2009
