Instead of traveling to New Orleans for Fat Tuesday — we won’t mention that time you got arrested on Bourbon Street — enjoy the Dallas festivities. Oak Cliff Mardi Gras Celebration kicks off its third year with three featured events. Dash for the Beads is a 5K run suitable for all ages and your pooch. The race begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday in the Bishop Arts District. Tickets range from $15 to $30. Suit up for the Masquerade Ball, which includes Cajun treats and a full bar. The masked crusade begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday at The Kessler Theater, 1230 W. Davis St. Tickets range from $25 to $600. The beads start flying during the parade at 6 p.m. on Sunday beginning at Davis Street. For more information, visit mardigrasoakcliff.com. If you can’t get enough of parades, check out the Mardi “Growl” benefiting Operation Kindness as it howls in celebration of man’s best friend. The event encourages everyone and the pooches to dress up and includes a parade. It begins at noon on Sunday at BlackFinn American Saloon (4001 Bagpiper Way). Tickets are $10. For more information, call 972-417-8956.
