ChatGPT is steadily advancing to the point where it’ll start to threaten most white-collar jobs. Not even music is safe from the plague of AI – bands must be wary of fake albums published under their names, and both Drake’s and Kendrick’s camps had to clear the air over phony diss tracks earlier this year. The introduction of AI very well might’ve been the first step on the path to living out the WALL-E movie, but at least we can get a few laughs out of it until then.
The latest gag comes from the Dallas subreddit, where one user asked ChatGPT to “roast Dallas neighborhood by neighborhood.” Anyone from Texas knows that there’s an abundance of ammo to work with there, so the results were both hilarious and, in some cases, a little too close to home to laugh at.
The AI program showed no mercy to Highland Park, “where casual means a $500 shirt and a Tesla parked on the street,” or Kessler Park, where “you know the neighbors are secretly judging you for not having a yard as manicured as theirs.” The more upscale areas took the most heat, but Pleasant Grove got the worst review by far.
“Pleasant grove, where ‘suburban’ meets ‘who needs a Starbucks when you’ve got a car wash?'” ChatGPT generated. “It’s like the DMV of neighborhoods – honestly, just getting through it feels like a test of endurance. But hey, at least you can get a good taco.”
Some of the city’s most vibrant communities were slammed with cybernetic scorn.
According to AI, people visit Bishop Arts only “because it feels like you’ve stepped into a Pinterest board,” and although The Cedars has “rent cheaper than anywhere else in town,” that’s only because its “transformation from industrial wasteland to ‘up-and-coming’ has been … slow.”
I asked ChatGPT to roast Dallas neighborhood by neighborhood. What do we think?

Even the heart of nightlife in Dallas caught a healthy dose of synthetic sarcasm.
“Deep Ellum, where the art is ‘edgy,’ the music is ‘indie’ and the craft beer is so unique it’s basically a requirement to not taste good,” ChatGPT dictated.
Oak Lawn was also thrown under the bus, being compared to “that one friend who’s always trying to be the life of the party but misses the mark” and relegated to the “early 2000s” with “a few too many rainbow flags and pride parades to actually be ‘cool’ anymore.”

One brave Reddit user tried to stick up for Oak Lawn and said, “Look, we in Oaklawn thought the rainbow crosswalks would hold up way better than they did.”
West End and Vickery Meadows got off easy, mostly being praised for their blend of culture; their only con: they aren’t “cool” enough. ChatGPT needs to brush up on its adjectives.
Several users disagreed with the noticeably light treatment of West End and weren’t shy about it, either.
“The ‘roast’ of West End was probably the nicest thing ever posted about that area within this Reddit community,” one user said.
“Yeah, I would think a roast of West End would start with the discarded needles and puddles that you hope are just pee,” another replied.
At the end of the day, if this were a competition to see which Dallas neighborhood AI hates the least, East Dallas would walk away with the trophy. Its worst criticism was “random festivals” (sounds like a fun time), and it was praised as the home of the “true locals.” We can neither confirm nor deny this assertion, but we’re certain that the inhabitants of East Dallas were relieved to be spared from the wrath of ChatGPT.
