Del Toro Time

Picture a secret place full of mythical creatures, dancing fairies and a king who all believe you might be their long-lost princess of the underworld. Now it is up to you to prove yourself to be this person of royalty, even though you aren’t sure you believe it, by doing three not-so-simple tasks that include sticking your hand down a gigantic toad’s throat and escaping a child-eating monster. Congratulations, you have just entered the wildly creative mind of director Guillermo del Toro, the man behind the award-winning movie Pan’s Labyrinth. This film tells the story of a young Spanish girl, Ofelia, who supposedly escapes reality through imagination when she comes across a labyrinth one night. Could you really blame the girl for exploring a fantasy world, considering her mother just married a sadistic army captain who can easily be compared to Hitler, and now she’s carrying his “love” child?
