Sometimes the moon looks like it’s winking at the little humans on earth, or maybe it’s just winking at me. Either way, many people have a fondness for the man in the moon and his magnetic pull. This tranquil reflection of the sun inspired a poem by former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins, which in turn inspired an orchestral composition, which led to the Voices of Change concert on Sunday. Apparently, there’s a whole lot of inspiration when the sun sets. The matinee performance features music from Joaquin Turina and Donald Martino, as well as Vivian Fung’s contributions to “The Billy Collins Suite.” As a special treat, Contemporary Ballet Dallas choreographed a number to Arvo Pärt’s piece, “Spiegel im Spiegel,” which is both musically stunning and really fun to say aloud. A pre-concert forum begins in City Performance Hall, 2520 Flora St., at 1:30 p.m. followed by the performance at 2. Tickets are $25 and available at voicesofchange.com.
