We’re heading into that particular stretch of summer when the baseball season starts to flag a little for even us diehards. We love our Texas Rangers, to be sure, but when you’ve already caught a few games and eaten your way through a dozen dollar dogs in a Ballpark that’s hotter than a motha, a change of pace isn’t a bad idea. And this is a literal change of pace: Dirk Nowitzki’s 2013 Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Dr Pepper Ballpark, 7300 Rough Riders in Frisco. The lovable German Maverick takes his talents to the diamond for this charity event, which benefits children’s charities, including the titular Dirk Nowitzki Foundation and the Heroes Foundation.
