The holiday season can be a bleak time of year, caused just as much by bare trees and gray skies as it is by family drama. The story of the child returning home for a confrontational holiday has a long pedigree, so when one comes along that sounds fresh and interesting, it’s sure to catch attention. And Sebastion definitely sounds interesting. The title character is a hermaphrodite who returns home to Paducah, Texas, after 20 years away, finally dealing with his abusive brother and senile mother. While the plot sounds dramatically heavy, the description from Ochre House Theater, 825 Exposition Ave., assures us it’s a comedy. Any script that compares cocktail mixing to alchemy promises at least a little cleverness. Showtime is 8:15 p.m. and the play runs until the 21st. Visit ochrehousetheater.com for more information or to buy tickets, which are also available for $15 at the door.
