Don’t you like pirates? Sure you do. They go “Arrr!” and wear eye patches and have parrots and scurvy! What’s not to love? Oh, I don’t know—maybe the fact that for, what, five or six years now, pirates have been the hipster in-joke that’s so very, unbelievably, out. And yet the pirate obsession continues—Halloween costumes and silly Flash animations abound. It is long past time that robots reclaim their status as the cool, nerdy hipster icon. How refreshing would it be to hear “Bleep!” and “Blip!” instead of that incessant “Ahoy”? The answer is, of course, very refreshing indeed. So do your part to bring robots back by going to see Honest Charley’s We Are the Robots homemade sculpture exhibition at Curiosities, 2025 Abrams Road. It opens with an artist’s reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and continues through April 15. Store hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Call 214-828-1886 or visit getcuriosities.com.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: March 3. Continues through April 15
