The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $12,500 by August 9.
If you don’t know what people mean when they say “dress for success,” you need to have lunch in downtown Dallas sometime. Sit on a patio and watch the people stream from those tall buildings in power suits and 3-inch executive heels and the entire inventory of Ann Taylor. For those of us steeped in business casual culture, it’s shocking. And intimidating. And expensive. And if you’re in a situation where you are starting from scratch and looking for a job, it can be almost unattainable. Enter Bone Daddy’s Dress for Success 2013 Golf Challenge. The pairing of a restaurant that celebrates skimpy attire with a benefit aimed at providing serious apparel and economic independence for women in need might seem incongruous, but Bone Daddy’s hosts this event with aplomb, assembling six-member teams of golfers at TopGolf Allen, 1500 Andrews Parkway, from 3 until 7 p.m. Monday. During the tournament, players will be plied with food, unlimited Top Golf and chances to win contests and raffles. All of the proceeds go to Dress for Success Dallas; register your team of six for $495 at bonedaddysdressforsuccess2013.eventbrite.com.
