Remember, like, two days ago when NorthPark Center was a dull, dreary beige-bricked enclave desperately clinging to its Neiman’s and Burberry? No matter what kind of high-end finery was available at the posh places, the Charlotte Russe and that creepy hamburger place by the pet clothing store made you feel like you were in a bizarre fashion dream-slash-nightmare, set simultaneously in Des Moines and New York City. But all of a sudden, the place blew up into the largest shopping mall in the state of Texas, brought Barney’s back to Dallas, and threw in a cosmedispa where socialites can pick up a little botox with their Manolos. Fashion, be born again in Dallas! March’s “Fashion at the Park” event is yet more evidence of our city’s increasing fabulousness: 15 runway shows from Diesel, Oscar de la Renta and Ted Baker, among others, along with VIP cocktail parties, swag bags and more. Vogue is even sponsoring the event, showcasing 30 images from the upcoming book In Vogue: The Illustrated History of the World’s Most Famous Fashion Magazine. Tickets to this month of style (events run through March 31) at NorthPark Center, 8687 N. Central Expressway, start at $25, with über fashion passes available for $1,500.
