Chanel. Yves Saint Laurent. Commes des Garçons. We generally associate these designers with young, cool fashionistas. But that’s a mistake. The women who really rock these designers’ looks are the women I dream about becoming. In Advanced Style, street style photographer Ari Seth Cohen and director Lina Plioplyte dive into the personal lives of New York City’s most fashionable women over 60, dispelling conventional ideas about beauty and aging. Cohen first started documenting his muses in his fashion blog, but this documentary gives a new life to these honorable women. They prove that with age comes grace, confidence, and boldness, and the Texas Theatre (231 W. Jefferson Blvd.) is going all out for this film with cocktails starting at 7 p.m., the film at 8 p.m., followed by deejay sets from Ariella Villa and Claudia Grassl. Tickets are $10.
