In a play within a play, it can sometimes be difficult to discern reality. The actors are always acting, but are they acting that they’re acting or are they just being themselves? Phew, I’m exhausted just thinking about it. Where reality stops and the show begins might be exactly the point in Undermain Theatre’s new play by Jackie Sibblies Drury, which explores questions of identity and racial histories. The name itself is a mouthful, so we’ll just refer to it as We are Proud to Present. If you want to read the full name, visit undermain.org, where you can also find tickets for Wednesday’s 7:30 p.m. preview performance for $10 and directions to the basement space in Deep Ellum, 3200 Main St. Performances continue through April 19.
Wednesdays, Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 8:15 p.m.; Saturdays, 2 p.m. Starts: March 19. Continues through April 19, 2014
