First In Flight

Remember how much fun your first plane flight was? Do you remember the excitement and tension mounting as you were about to take off? And after you left the ground, as the plane accelerated, did you feel a strange sense of calm as you saw buildings become smaller and smaller? It’s as if you are almost invincible during that first flight. Relive, or imagine, your first flight at Fort Worth Museum of Science and History’s Air Park exhibit. Explore the forces behind flight: gravity, lift, thrust and drag. Learn how planes are made, examine a hang glider, design your own paper airplane and build an aircraft that floats on an air table. Air Park is on display through September 5 at the Innovation Gallery in the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, 1600 Gendy St. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
