The animated movie How to Train Your Dragon taught us that flying monsters can be pretty helpful and damn cute, just as long as we don’t go all Viking on their asses. Just don’t tell that to Sir David Attenborough. Not one to stray into fantasy, the face and voice of BBC and nature documentaries the world over joined Sky 3D to produce Flying Monsters 3D, the first 3-D film ever to be awarded a BAFTA (sort of a British Oscar or Emmy). A documentary built for the magic of IMAX, Flying Monsters gets to the truth about pterosaurs (just don’t call them dinosaurs) and just how a giant lizard with the wingspan of a jet plane evolved in the prehistoric world. Catch Flying Monsters this week with weekday screenings at 10 a.m., 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. at the IMAX Theater at the Museum of Nature and Science, 3535 Grand Ave. in Fair Park.
