Today is Local News Day
A national day of action to support and celebrate the trusted local journalism that strengthens communities. If you believe local news matters — this is the day to show your support. Make a contribution today to help keep our reporting free and accessible to all.
If you wanted to attend Saturday night’s Phenomenon event with Shepard Fairey at the Dallas Contemporary but can’t swing the $50 ticket — or were just interested in hearing the artist’s intent, there’s a chit chat with Fairey at 7 p.m. tonight at the Dallas Contemporary.
The chit to Fairey’s chat will be handled by Pedro Alonzo, adjunct curator of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston. Alonzo is well-versed on the topic of street art; he guest curated the wildly popular 2010 exhibition Viva La Revolución at the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego. When these two get together, expect a conversation as colorful as our city’s new murals.
Both informative and free (!!!) the interview is open to the public.
**Update** .
I just spoke with the Dallas Contemporary and they said that nobody will be turned away from this event, but that at this point it is standing room only.
