OK, yes. We all know Greg Behrendt was the mastermind behind Berger advising Miranda, “He’s just not that into you,” on Sex & the City. And he co-wrote the book He’s Just Not That Into You. And he’s probably rolling in the dough from the ensemble cast hit, um, He’s Just Not That Into You. But there’s much more to Greg Behrendt. And no, we don’t mean the show Wake Up Call. We mean his stand-up. Forgive the over-used phrase and the relationship advice; Behrendt is actually funny with a mike in his hand. His explanation of his buying a second newspaper subscription because a vulnerable telemarketer used his first name–and the word “fuck”–is priceless. His description of Criss Angel (“I don’t get this guy at all. He fuckin’ does magic but he’s like kinda mad about it?”) is spot-on. And he ranges in topic from mundane home-life shit to “deep” religious stuff (“I have a god of my choosing, and his name is Glen. I don’t fear my god–he’s a little passive-aggressive.”) to relationship shenanigans–but not the sort his books or TV would have you expect. So go, please, to the Addison Improv, 4980 Belt Line Road, Thursday through Saturday and check out Behrendt. He’d totally be into you doing that. For showtimes and tickets, call 972-404-8501 or visit improv.com.
