The 17th annual Genesis Women’s Shelter Golf Classic takes place Thursday at the Prestonwood Country Club, 15909 Preston Road. The tournament, founded in 1990 by Ellen Terry Realtors, has raised more than $500,000 to help provide food, clothing and counseling for battered women and their children. Sponsorships begin at $2,500, and the cost for individuals is $250. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. and the tournament starts at 1 p.m. For more information, call 214-528-5600, ext. 11.
