If ever a life deserved to be retold in a grand, bombastic musical, it was Eva Peron’s. You think Jean Valjean fleeing through Paris’ sewers is dramatic? Hah. Peron clawed her way up from poverty to become first an actress, then Argentina’s first lady and finally a sort of secular saint as champion for the poor in post-war Latin America. Her story makes Les Mis seem pedestrian – and she was a real person. Dallas Summer Musicals brings the Broadway touring production of composer Andrew Lloyd Weber’s and lyricist Tim Rice’s Evita to the Music Hall at Fair Park, 909 First Ave. Evening performances are at 7:30 p.m. April 15-27, with 1:30 p.m. matinees on a handful of dates.
