Wouldn’t it be nice to be one of the cool kids, just for once? Wouldn’t you like to be asked to the prom—as a sophomore? You would. You’d like to sway slowly under rows and rows of shimmering lights in the school gym to Garth Brooks’ classic “The Dance.” You’d like to sip slyly from a flask of cheap bourbon as Garth serenades you and the hot senior who brought ya with his tale of lifelong love and woe. But you don’t need friends in high—or low—places to see the nostalgically named Junior/Senior Prom exhibit at the 500X Gallery, 500 Exposition Ave. Featuring established artists as well as newbies of all stripes, the Prom hangs through June 2. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and by appointment. Visit 500x.org.
Saturdays, Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: May 12. Continues through June 2
