It’s really sweet to see a collaboration of entities all coming together for the benefit of the children. It’s like a Michael Jackson song come to life. So when the Children’s Medical Center and the Angelika Film Center of Plano united for a series of children’s classics, all I could think was, “How charming.” They got off to a great start with The Wizard of Oz, an obvious but excellent choice followed by the always entertaining original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. They were healing the world through cinema. And then there was Heidi. Oops, I just threw up a little in my mouth. How a 1937 Shirley Temple movie about the blandest kids’ story of all time was selected I will never know, but hey, it’s for the kids. Never mind Bambi or National Velvet or something with a little more pizzazz, because Heidi will just knock those kids’’ socks off. At least parents can see it as an easy hour and a half nap. So there is some silver lining. Heidi screens 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Angelika in Plano, 7205 Bishop Road. Visit angelikafilmcenter.com/plano.
