With some comics, it takes several minutes of their acts to get where their humor is coming from. With others, all you have to do is read their self-penned bios. Case in point, an excerpt from Christian Finnegan‘s self-description: “He also travels this great nation, bringing his own special brand of semi-hilarity to comedy clubs, colleges, rock clubs, shithole bars, empty conference rooms, real estate seminars, Turkish whorehouses, bat mitzvahs, doggy fashion shows, crackhouses and nursing home key parties.” Nursing home key parties–get it? It’s funny because the thought of old people having sex is gross. All he leaves out is that his “semi-hilarity” (which is generous) is also regularly on VH1’s cure for laughter, Best Week Ever. Finnegan performs 10:30 p.m. Thursday at Hyena’s Dallas in Mockingbird Station. Tickets ($10 to $15) and info are at hyenascomedynightclub.com or 214-823-5233.
