Who doesn’t love puppets? Whether sock puppets, marionettes or the weird Jim Henson kind with the sticks in their hands, puppet shows have been a staple of community entertainment for hundreds of years. Well, if you have a puppet jones and don’t know where to get a fix, your prayers have been answered. The Hip Pocket Theatre presents the 3rd Annual Cowtown Puppetry Festival, The Lost Garden Party, through September 16. It consists of a series of workshops, displays and various other puppet-related activities led by two of the nation’s most renowned puppeteers, all leading up to a performance of the new puppet extravaganza The Doggies and the Kitty. Erin Orr and Chris Green are world famous for their innovative, larger-than-life puppetry, and they have returned to the metroplex again to share the magic with us all. Get a rare glimpse into their process and witness the ancient art of puppet-making. What more could any puppet aficionado want? The 3rd Annual Cowtown Puppetry Festival runs through September 16 at The Hip Pocket Theatre, 1950 Silver Creek Road in Fort Worth. Visit hippocket.org.
