‘s work this way: “The sculptures appear to explore a space of intimate events—in spite of their rhetorical titles, compiled from grand mythological narratives…Ascetic in appearance, cryptic in connotation, yet free-wheeling, they speak a private language of passions and are hard to penetrate, except intuitively.” We have no idea what that means, but if you’re intrigued, go check out Stout’s exhibition at the Holly Johnson Gallery, 1411 Dragon St. A painting professor at the University of Houston for more than 20 years, Stout holds degrees from the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Texas.
