Leave it to Woody Allen to tackle two sacred subjects with humor and insight touched with a bit of existentialism, and leave it to Denton Community Theatre’s Black Box Theatre to bring that humor to the stage. Nearly 40 years ago, New York’s most beloved writer/director/actor/musician/etc. put his brilliant neurosis to paper and ended up creating the best-seller Without Feathers, a collection of short stories that featured two plays, God and Death. On the one hand you have God, a theatrical comedy about the ancient Greeks Hepatitis and Diabetes and their odd encounter with the big man himself, and on the other, Death, the darkly entertaining paranoid tale that was the basis of Shadows and Fog. Directed by Dennis Welch and Sean Frith, God and Death end their limited run with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Black Box Theatre, 318 E. Hickory St. in Denton. Tickets are $15.
