There’s something magical about the age of 13. Hair grows in awkward new places, you receive constant bullying from pizza-faced peers, and your parents become an unbearable presence. This last thing never goes away completely, but it’s strongest the five years before you’re stuck in a dorm without mom and dad’s home cooking. For parents, this time presents ups and downs. Your kid can’t stand you, but getting back at ’em is a breeze—it’s never been easier to embarrass them in public. (You probably already do it by wearing socks with your sandals.) For $65 (per team), mess with your teen in a group setting and learn how to make petit fours at the same time when the Central Market Cooking School, 5750 E. Lovers Lane, hosts a parent/teen baking class, Spring Into Cupcakes, at 6:30 p.m. Monday. Call 214-361-5754 or visit centralmarket.com.
