If you believe Valentine’s Day is anything other than a capitalism-fueled holiday of cliche-ridden pap, you are probably going out to dinner at a somewhat overpriced dining establishment this weekend, then hopping in your mid-sized sedan to drive down to the multiplex to see the Garry Marshall film Valentine’s Day, after which you will comment to your date, “Oh my god, that was exactly what love is like! They nailed it!” However, if you are a thinking person and still must celebrate Valentine’s Day, you should at least do so with charming, vintage cliches instead of new-fangled ones. This Saturday, February 13, head down to the Lakewood Theater, 1825 Abrams Pkwy, at 8:30 p.m. for a Ricki Derek concert and a screening of Casablanca for $20. Derek’s schtick is a throwback lounge-style revue, and Casablanca is…well, if we have to explain it to you, you don’t deserve a Valentine. Visit LakewoodTheater.com.
