Happy Kwanzaa and Kujichagulia to you too. Kujichagulia, pronounced koo-jee-cha-goo-LEE-ah, is self-determination in Swahili. And it’ll take a fair amount of self-determination to learn to say that. Kujichagulia is day two of the seven day long Kwanzaa holiday, created in celebration of family, community and culture. Kuchichagulia is a day to focus on affirming the determination to create, name and define life for yourself. The Pan African Connection book store, 612 E. Jefferson Blvd., is putting emphasis on the ‘create’ part with Kwanzaa for Kids. From noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, storyteller Melody Bell will make Kwanzaa come alive for kids through drumming, singing and other cultural activities. For more information call 214-372-3500.
Thu., Dec. 28, 12-2 p.m.
