Once again, the ’80s are spewing forth into our modern age like a Rubik’s Cube being shot out of a wormhole. Footloose—The Musical is finally coming to the metroplex. If you’ve been living in captivity for the last 25 years, I have some news for you. The 1984 movie Footloose is one of the most amazing, inspirational and bad-ass movies ever made. It turned Kevin Bacon into a superstar overnight. Plus the title track by soundtrack god Kenny Loggins is an anthem for youth everywhere. Footloose proves that one person can change the world. Forced to move to a small town where dancing is forbidden, a big-city kid who was born to dance wages a fierce battle with the “locals.” His noble goal is to get their minds open and their feet movin’. Everyone knows the power of dancing to awesome ’80s hits is more powerful than the Bible, and this production proves it. Casa Mañana’s musical production of this legendary show features an all-youth cast from the Camp Casa theater program and should be a great time for anyone who’s ever had a dream. Footloose—The Musical will be at the Casa Mañana Theater in Fort Worth at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $20. Visit casamanana.org for information.

Fri., June 27, 7:30 p.m.; Sat., June 28, 7:30 p.m., 2008
