What’s not to like about the combination of 1920s Hollywood and murder? Theatre Three’s opening musical this season features Fatty Arbuckle, the famous director prosecuted for killing a starlet, and Desmond Taylor, a director who was himself murdered. They’re just supporting characters, but it’s not a bad backdrop. Mack and Mabel, showing at Theatre Three, 2800 Routh St., is a love story about slapstick director Mack Sennet and actress Mabel Normand’s tumultuous relationship. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays, 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sundays through August 19. Tickets are $40.
