When Maxwell Anderson accepted the role of the Dallas Museum of Art’s director, we knew that change was a-comin’, but nobody was prepared for how much and how quickly. Since taking the reins, he’s made steps to expand our museum’s in-house conservation department, brought in talent from all over to round out the staff and even hijacked his old coworker Robert Stein from Indianapolis to trick out the DMA’s technology and research departments. You could say he wrote the book on museum directing, and you wouldn’t be wrong. At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, you can hear Anderson rap art with Krys Boyd (of KERA’s Think) as they discuss his book The Quality Instinct: Seeing Art Through A Museum Director’s Eye. It’s going to be a major dork fest in the DMA’s Horchow Auditorium, 1717 N. Harwood St., so you’ll probably want to wear your nicest tuxedo T-shirt. There’s a book signing following the conversation, and the whole thing is free to museum members. Everyone else must shell out $10 ($5 for students.) Visit dallasmuseumofart.com/events.
