So I’m watching a video clip of comedian Chas Elstner discuss NASCAR versus Indy cars and how the body changes a great deal after 40 (which, according to him, includes a possible decrease or backing up of semen, so I’m gonna go ahead and say watch out, 30-somethings…of both genders) and I’m trying to figure out where I’ve seen this certain move he does. Arms raised in a V, kinda cheerleadery/kinda cartoony, head thrown back. He’s a rather physical comedian, so his being in motion doesn’t surprise me, but it’s damn familiar. And so I move on to the bio and aha! Not only has Elstner been the opening act for Gloria Estefan and Peabo Bryson, and not only has he been on, like, every network’s comedy special, but he was a featured clown in the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. You can take the comedian out of the clown suit, but you can’t take the clown moves out of the comedian. (You’ll hear it in his laugh too.) Check out Chas Elstner, former clown and hard-working funny man at Hyena’s Arlington 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and 7, 9 and 11 p.m. Saturday night. Admission is $10 with a two-item minimum.
