The Texas sun can be a beat down, and not just any old shrub or succulent can withstand its heat. That’s why the Dallas Arboretum’s Senior Director of Gardens, Jimmy Turner, is hosting “Lone Star Greats: Texas Tough Plants,” a class designed to show you the perfect plants for our region, including those that have received his special “Flame-Proof” designation. In addition to picking up great tips, enrollment in the class gives you access to the preview sale for the Arboretum’s seventh annual Plant Sale. The class will be held at the Dallas Arboretum, 8525 Garland Road, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The class is $22, $20 for members. Registration is required. Call 214-520-2219 or visit dallasarboretum.org.
