There are few things more intimidating than a roller derby league, but one of those more intimidating things is a roller derby league that’s themed off of the JFK shooting. With teams boasting names like Lone Star Assassins, Special Ops and Dirty Little Secret Service, you know Assassination City Roller Derby is nothing to screw with. (Derby girls and drag queens have the best names, don’t they?) These are women who laugh in the face of danger and decency. Their 2013 Conspiracy Bouts are happening at 7 p.m. at Dad’s Broadway Skateland (3022 Moon Drive, Mesquite). Dallas’ only women’s flat-track league will go up against the Oklahoma City Roller Derby League, with tickets going for $10 (children younger than 10 get in free!). If you’re lucky enough to be 21 or older, you can bring your own booze. Just no glass allowed, for obvious reasons (violence, accidents, recycling). Contact info@acderby.com for more information.
