You’re thinking this is the year you’ll make that island getaway, hop a plane, head to a warm beach with lapping waves and tiki torchlight and make the kind of memories that are found in crackly old photographs. But then reality sets in, and you’re stuck in Dallas this spring, counting change and hoping to grab a beer and catch a bingo game or a movie. Don’t despair. Alamo Drafthouse has the answer to all your problems. It’s called Tiki Bingo Night, and it’s happening every Tuesday at 8 p.m. through June 3 at the Richardson location’s Glass Half Full bar (100 S. Central Expressway). Mad Men-era inspired Tiki Bingo Nights feature Hawaiian food specials, cocktails in vintage tiki glassware and bingo with prizes such as movie passes and Alamo gear. Retro Tiki and Hawaiian wear are encouraged but not required, and the events are first come, first served and free, so you can keep the dream alive. Maybe next year you’ll make it to the island.
