Who needs graceful, beautiful ballerinas leaping and turning on stage, when you could see a Miley Cyrus lookalike twerking to the original sounds of The Nutcracker. It’s probably a tad nuts, but it might be just what your boring old holiday needs. The Texas Ballet Theater hosts The Nutty Nutcracker, which basically ditches the pretty ballerinas and replaces them with references to pop culture. Obviously, we’re hoping for Miley to stick out her tongue or ride an inflatable hot dog or something, but we also wouldn’t mind a Beyonce-Jay Z-Solange elevator scuffle set to the sound of some instrumental Nutcracker song. Fingers crossed. See it at 8 p.m. Friday at Bass Performance Hall (525 Commerce St., Fort Worth). Tickets are $25 -125 and available at texasballettheater.org or by calling 817-212-4325.
