When I first heard about photographer Terry Falke’s exhibition, Observations in an Occupied Wilderness, I thought, “Great, more thoroughly original African animal portraits.” Wrong. Falke captures the American Southwest, by (not an original idea by any means) “emphasizing the incongruities observed in humankind’s interaction with the environment,” meaning artsy shots of picnic tables against mountains and fence posts on stretches of desert. Be sure, however, to check out the eerie “Shoe Tree” photo. The exhibit runs through October 23 at the Afterimage Gallery, 2800 Routh St. in the Quadrangle.
