In the closest that the state of Texas will ever come to enthusiastically proclaiming the name of its northern bordering state, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! will gallivant its pastel-clad cowboys and boisterously Western tunes to Bass Performance Hall Tuesday through July 2. A love story at heart, Oklahoma! follows a musical love affair between Curly, the handsome cowboy, and his trusty farm wench, Laurey. As they dramatically jaunt through all the hold-ups love throws their way, they sing such memorable classics as, “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'” and, of course, the namesake, “Oklahoma!” For the trivia buffs, Paul Newman originally tested for the role of Curly…and was rejected. He probably still regrets it as he sits on his pile of Academy Awards and organic salad dressing. Call 817-212-4280 for tickets or visit casamanana.org.
