Professor Henry Higgins was a pimp? Quite possibly…if you ponder the dubious hero of My Fair Lady and his professional tactics. He plucks young ladies off the streets, tidies them up, teaches them how to talk right and puts them on display for others to gawk at. A pimp prototype for future generations. Who knew? Fifty years ago, Broadway was introduced to the questionable Higgins, played by Rex Harrison, and his ambush makeover subject, Eliza Doolittle, with a pre-Poppins Julie Andrews in the role. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the stage production’s debut, the Fine Arts Division of the Dallas Public Library will host a free screening of the Oscar-winning movie starring Audrey Hepburn. Never mind that the movie itself is only 42 years old. See it at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Performance Space on the fourth floor of J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, 1515 Young St. Call 214-670-1643.
