Finally, an eating competition that doesn’t require you to dunk the food in water for (gag) throat lubrication. Fish City Grill is hosting its annual eating competition, Oyster Fest. Competitors will dive into a stack of these slimy sea creatures and, in a The Walrus and The Carpenter-esque display, knock back as many mollusks as they can. But you don’t have to participate in this gag-inducing shellfish-swallowing competition to get in on the foodie action. The event benefits the March of Dimes and features live music, food and beer. What’s more, there are dishes for those of you who like to actually taste the oysters, with baked oysters Rockefeller, oysters Newberg, fried Louisiana oyster po’boys and more. They bring on the brine Sunday at Fish City Grill, 10720 Preston Road. The contest is 2 to 3 p.m., live music 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. and the oysters are all day. Call 214-891-9979 or visit fishcitygrill.com for details.
