Deep Ellum had a hard time a while back. Bars closed. Venues closed. Tattoo parlors seemed oddly unaffected. But now, with places like Pecan Lodge moving in and bars reopening, Deep Ellum is back. One feature of the neighborhood never went anywhere, though. This weekend, the Deep Ellum Arts Festival is celebrating 20 years of outdoor music and art. Watch more than 100 live musical acts. Eat yourself stupid at more than 30 local restaurant booths. And there’s the art. More than 200 artists will be showing and selling everything from crafts and jewelry to fine art. And there’s a Sunday pet parade down Main Street. Just because. The fest takes place between Good Latimer Expressway and Hall Street, opening at 11 a.m. Friday through Sunday.
