Its high-maintenance name aside, there’s something pleasantly practical-seeming about the North Dallas Suburban Foundation for Life Development and Community Involvement Annual Fashion Extravaganza at the Brookhaven Country Club, 3333 Golfing Green Drive. Donning wearable pieces for ladies and men, too, models will strut their stuff in looks that range from totally dressy to summer chic, while local merchants set up shop to offer their own wares, replacing the drunken hijinks of some scenester-infused fashion events with some down-home commerce. And because this is a charitable event hosted by a bona fide 501c3 – with proceeds going to a scholarship fund and other community programs – the focus is less shock and more aw. Tickets are $35.
