As of this writing your Dallas Stars sit near the bottom of the Western Conference, in only slightly better shape than the Atlanta Thrashers of the Eastern Conference, who visit the AAC tonight. Named for the state bird of Georgia, the brown thrasher, the team obviously has a cooler name than ours, but has only made one playoff appearance in its seven NHL seasons, getting swept by the New York Rangers in the first round of the 2007 playoffs. It remains to be seen whether either club will taste playoff action this year, but a win tonight sure wouldn’t hurt. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 to $150. Visit ticketmaster.com.

Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?
At the Dallas Observer, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of the Dallas Observer, now’s the time to give back.
