If you could somehow cross The Daily Show with All the President’s Men and add a touch of A Chorus Line, you might end up with NEWSical, an inspired musical that satires current events and familiar targets such as Martha Stewart. This is the kind of high-concept production that will either work magically or fail miserably, although The New York Times gave the play a laudatory review. Incredibly, the rapidly updating NEWSical features new songs and material every week, nearly making it possible for the writers to keep up with the latest Republican congressional scandal. NEWSical will run Tuesday through October 22 at the Eisemann Center in Richardson. Tickets are available online at eisemanncenter.com.
