Reader support matters more than ever
We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $12,500 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.
Tall in the Saddle: Cowgirls, Ranch Women and Rodeo Gals collects black and white photographs by Ann Meredith that span 17 years and provide an intimate glimpse into the lives of women in the West. Countering stereotypes, the images prove that women contribute as much to the rodeo circuit and ranch responsibilities as men, as well as showing many females participating in events that not too long ago were not open to them. An opening reception kicks things off from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Women’s Museum, 3800 Parry Ave. The exhibition runs through June 28, with special programs including a panel discussion on May 2 and an outdoor family festival featuring ropers and horse demonstrations on June 6. Thu., April 9, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Tuesdays-Saturdays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: April 9. Continues through June 29, 2009
