In college lingo, “101” translates to “for beginners.” Generally, one doesn’t learn much in a 101 (due to sleeping late and skipping), but they are sometimes good for getting dates. Probably the only 101 class that would be good to take a date to would be Sushi 101 at Central Market. There, chef Hui Chan will teach beginners the art of making Philadelphia rolls, healthy rolls, heart attack rolls, cucumber rolls and the favorite, California rolls (the gateway rolls of sushidom). I assume you get to eat your own efforts, so, students, you should probably pay attention this time. Class is held 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Central Market on Lovers Lane. Tuition is $60 per person. Call the cooking school to register at 214-361-5754 or visit centralmarket.com.

Thu., March 15, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
