He’s the head writer for the Academy Awards, personal friends with Whoopi Goldberg and began his career as a child model for Lane Bryant’s Charming Chub division. He tucks his signature T-shirts into pleated pants with a belt and Bette Midler still speaks to him. He’s been the center square on Hollywood Squares, a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race and felt certain he was going to be the next Neil Simon. And even though that whole cranking out hit play after hit play thing didn’t pan out, Bruce Vilanch can’t complain. Hello? Did you read the laundry list of name drops above? And now, he’s coming to Dallas to spend an entire evening telling anyone who will listen (and, you know, pay admission) all about his storied career. On Thursday, Vilanch will take the Rose Room at S4 (3911 Cedar Springs Road) by potato-bodied storm. Shows start at 7 and 10 p.m. and tickets range from $10 to $25. Learn more at wegotbruce.com.
