Grand Prairie native Laura Ainsworth has a little something to say about aging. In Dallas, it might seem that the singer and comedienne’s viewpoints on diets, plastic surgery and especially Botox might seem a bit unwelcome, but I’m going to go out on a thick-thighed limb here and say there are quite a few women-folk that would high-five the feisty redhead, given the opportunity. In her revue My Ship Has Sailed, Ainsworth (along with co-captain and Newport Jazz Festival pick Brian Piper, her pianist and musical director), throws a one-two at the tireless and expensive efforts of many to stay faux-young and beautiful. Hmm, interesting. Some would say her honesty, candor and humor is just as attractive as some 20-something’s tight ass…actually, I would. If you agree, check out My Ship Has Sailed 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Women’s Club of Grand Prairie, 1 Park Square North. Tickets are $15 and proceeds benefit the Grand Prairie Arts Council and Women’s Club. Visit lauraainsworth.com.
